Guest Chef Series - Dinner with The Loren in Austin Chef Brad McDonald

Forthcoming luxury lakeside hotel the Loren on Ladybird Lake shared details about its rooftop restaurant, Nido, ahead of its scheduled opening this summer. Nido will be located in the hotel on 211 South Lamar Boulevard in the Zilker neighborhood.

Nido’s menu will focus on coastal European cuisine, and the restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sample items include chicken wings stuffed with foie gras and maple; a lamb belly flatbread with anchovy butter; and grilled oysters with Calabrian chiles, garlic, and pecorino. The restaurant will have a full bar and a terrace area for cocktails.

The chef of Nido is Mississippi-born Brad McDonald. He most recently operated the doughnut pop-up 1235 Donuts in Austin with his wife Molly, which was a continuation of a pop-up they started in London. The McDonalds were also behind London spots the Lockhart, which served South American food, and Shotgun BBQ. He also led the French brasserie Couvant at the Eliza Jane Hotel in New Orleans. In 2018, Eater New Orleans named the restaurant the most gorgeous restaurant of the year and nominated McDonald for chef the year nominee.

The Indian-American chef Maneet Chauhan is also an author, restaurateur, entrepreneur, and TV personality. She has served as the executive chef in some famous restaurants worldwide, including the Vermilion in Chicago. 

Maneet Chauhan was born on 27 October 1976 in Punjab, India. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management from Manipal University, India. Immediately after graduation, in 1998, Chauhan moved to New York and received training in baking and pastry arts from the Culinary Institute of America. She then began her journey towards being one of America's recognized chefs and TV stars.

To date, Maneet Chauhan has appeared on the judges' panel of several cooking reality shows like Guy's Groceries GamesWorst Cooks in AmericaIron Chef AmericaChopped, and many more. She has also authored multiple cookbooks like 'Flavors of My World,' 'The Journey,' and 'Chaat.' 

Currently, Maneet Chauhan is the co-owner of the famous restaurant in Nashville, Chauhan Ale and Masala House. She established it with her husband, Vivek Deora, in August 2014. She is also the co-founder of Nashville's Morph Hospitality Group.

Guest Chef Series - Cooking Demo & Book Signing with Chef Dan Kluger

Born and raised in NYC, Dan grew up in a family where cooking always played a major role. Dan attended Syracuse University majoring in Nutrition and Hospitality Management. He spent his externship in the dining room of Danny Meyer’s
Union Square Cafe and after graduation returned to work in the front of house until he was offered his first kitchen position as
a prep cook. It was USC that opened his eyes to the wonders of seasonal cooking and he spent the next two and a half years working his way through every station. 

In 1999 Dan was asked to be a part of the opening team of Tabla Restaurant and
 spent the next seven years working his way up, becoming Tabla’s first Chef de Cuisine. Under Chef Floyd Cardoz’s direction, Dan was able to fine-tune his cooking techniques, the balance of flavors and textures in his dishes, and the use of Indian spices. 

Upon leaving Tabla, Dan was hired by Tom Colicchio, as the Executive Chef for a project he was consulting on called
 The Core Club. Dan spent the next four years as the clubs culinary leader transforming the way a "members only" dining room
was experienced. Dan left The Core Club in late 2008 to join the Jean-Georges team where he helped open restaurants in
 Arizona, Utah, DC and New York.

 The Core Club. Dan spent the next four years as the clubs culinary leader transforming the way a "members only" dining room
was experienced. Dan left The Core Club in late 2008 to join the Jean-Georges team where he helped open restaurants in
 Arizona, Utah, DC and New York.

Born and raised in NYC, Dan grew up in a family where cooking always played a major role. Dan attended Syracuse University majoring in Nutrition and Hospitality Management. He spent his externship in the dining room of Danny Meyer’s
Union Square Cafe and after graduation returned to work in the front of house until he was offered his first kitchen position as
a prep cook. It was USC that opened his eyes to the wonders of seasonal cooking and he spent the next two and a half years working his way through every station. 

In 1999 Dan was asked to be a part of the opening team of Tabla Restaurant and

As a Texas native growing up on her Southern family farm, Tiffany Derry learned early on that farm-to-table eating wasn’t just a trend – it was a lifestyle. This family passion inspired her to begin her chef career at the young age of 15, and she hasn’t stopped since. As an entrepreneur, she is the founder of Tiffany Derry Concepts and co-founder of T2D Concepts. These two companies combine the desire to serve others with an underlying advocacy to drive social change in the hospitality industry.
